What a session is actually like:
• we meet about once a month
• you bring an area you want to continue to explore for this session (e.g., God's presence/absence during a recent or past event)
• I mostly listen, not only for your words, but for the guidance of the Holy Spirit as we talk
• I may highlight what seems to be important to you or ask gentle questions to learn more
• silence is sometimes part of the meeting (either can initiate)
• there is no pressure to believe anything
• doubt is welcome
People often come to spiritual direction when:
• prayer or connection feels incomplete
• they have interfaith questions
• clergy feel burnout
Spiritual direction is not:
• psychotherapy
• problem-solving
• advice or teaching
• confession (confidentiality is critical)
Each of our journeys is unique. And, each of us is precious in God's sight. Spiritual direction begins with the notion that it can be helpful to walk with someone on the journey of becoming more fully alive and connected to all that is, to ultimate reality, moment by moment. I'd love to talk with you further. You can book time for an exploratory free conversation with me using the "Let's Meet" tab at the top of the page.
